The RCI-IIBEC Foundation was established in 2001. Since then, the Foundation has received more than $3 million in donations. The Foundation is committed to using those donations for the benefit of the building enclosure industry.
Through our investments in grant recipients, we seek to increase the scope and type of research conducted for the building enclosure. Through our scholarship and convention sponsorships, we aim to showcase our profession to a new generation and create opportunities for the dissemination of informaiton vital to our industry's growth.
The Foundation is focused on financially supporting activities that advance knowledge in the building enclosure industry. These projects may take the form of research, educational programs, publications and student scholarships.
Recent initiatives include: supporting 28 undergraduate/graduate students as well as eight university professors to attend the 2020 IIBEC Virtual Convention and Trade Show; awarding four Robert W. Lyons and RCI Lewis W. Newlan scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year; funding for research at Virginia Tech on thermal bridging via roof fastners; colloborating on research with SPRI (Single-Ply Roofing Industry) on assembly materials as moisture content varies; and updating the 2003 Roof Drainage monograph.
